Buffalo Sabres interim coach Ted Nolan joined NHL Live on Thursday to share a story about how he learned he was headed back to the place he began his coaching career in the League.
Nolan had a trip planned to New York this week to watch his son, Los Angeles Kings forward Jordan Nolan, compete against the New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers. He placed a call to his friend Pat LaFontaine to inquire if he had any connections for tickets to a Broadway show.
LaFontaine, named the Sabres' president of hockey operations on Wednesday, said he couldn't get him any tickets because Nolan had something else to do, coach the Sabres.
"I was floored," Nolan said. "I'm an emotional guy and definitely tears came in my eyes. It was one of those moments I'll never forget."
