Brian Gionta continues to show up for work and good things happen.
On a milestone night where the Buffalo Sabres captain was celebrated for playing his 1,000th career game, he scored a second period goal to give his team a 3-0 in what would become a 4-2 win against the Florida Panthers.
Gionta, a Stanley Cup champion while with the New Jersey Devils in his 15th season, was honored in a pre-game ceremony. A tribute video featuring highlights of his career dating all the way back to his youth hockey days, played on the scoreboard.
"It's an honor to play one game. To play 1,000 is incredible."
