Riley Stillman with OFX bug

Riley Stillman was traded to the Buffalo Sabres by the Vancouver Canucks on Monday for forward prospect Josh Bloom.

Stillman, who is in the second season of a three-year, $4.05 million contract he signed with the Chicago Blackhawks on April 25, 2021, can become a restricted free agent at the end of next season. He was previously traded to the Canucks by the Blackhawks for forward Jason Dickinson on Oct. 7.
The 24-year-old defenseman has five assists in 32 games this season.

Stillman was selected by the Florida Panthers in the fourth round (No. 114) of the 2016 NHL Draft. He has 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) in 140 games with the Canucks, Blackhawks and Panthers.
The Sabres (31-23-4), who have won three straight, are one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
Bloom was a third-round pick (No. 95) by the Sabres in the 2021 NHL Draft. The 19-year-old forward has 58 points (26 goals, 32 assists) in 59 games with Saginaw and North Bay of the Ontario Hockey League this season.
The Canucks (23-31-5) are 19 points behind the Seattle Kraken for the second wild card from the West. They acquired forward Vitali Kravtsov in a trade with the New York Rangers on Saturday, and forwards Anthony Beauvillier and Aatu Raty and a first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft for center Bo Horvat on Jan. 30.
