Saad with four points as Spirit take 3-2 series lead over the Sting @NHLdotcom

SARNIA, Ont. - Brandon Saad scored twice and set up two more as the Saginaw Spirit defeated the host Sarnia Sting 5-2 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

It was Saad's second two-goal game of the series and in five contests against Sarnia he now has six goals and 12 points, which places him third overall in OHL playoff scoring.

Dalton Young also had two goals for the Spirit, and led his team with a plus-4, while Michael Fine scored the other.

Defenceman Steven Strong earned the game's first star by chipping in with three assists.

Brett Thomspon scored both goals for the Sting as Nail Yakupov failed to register a point for the first time all series.

Jake Paterson stopped 37 shots for the win while JP Anderson allowed four goals on 38 shots.

Saginaw failed to score on the power play, going 0 for 4, as Sarnia scored once on five opportunities with the man advantage.

The Spirit now lead the Western Conference first-round series 3-2 with Game 6 set to take place on Saturday in Saginaw.
