Saad named Canadian Hockey League player of the week, Comrie earns goalie award @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - Brandon Saad of the Saginaw Spirit was named the Canadian Hockey League's player of the week on Tuesday.

Saad scored 10 points (six goals, four assists) in three games last week.

The second-year forward was selected 43rd overall in the 2011 NHL draft by the Chicago Blackhawks and played two NHL games this season before returning to Saginaw. He has recorded 13 points in five games with the Spirit.

Danick Gauthier of the Saint John Sea Dogs and Brendan Gallagher of the Vancouver Giants were also considered for the award.

Eric Comrie of the Tri-City Americans was selected as the CHL goaltender of the week after recording two shutout victories in two starts.

Mathieu Corbeil of the Saint John Sea Dogs and Mark Visentin of the Niagara IceDogs were also nominated for the award.
