Ryan Russell scores hat trick at Bulldogs beat Americans 5-2

HAMILTON - Ryan Russell had a hat trick as the Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Rochester Americans 5-2 to sweep the two-game series Sunday at Copps Coliseum.

Two of Russell's goals were shorthanded as the Bulldogs scored three shorthanded goals - one shy of tying the AHL record for most in a game - and improved to 11-4-1-0.

Matt D'Agostini scored the Bulldogs other shorty, while Yanick Lehoux had the game winner for Hamilton.

Jordan Henry and Michal Repik scored for Rochester, which dropped to 2-13-0-1.

Marc Denis made 24 saves for Hamilton, while David Shantz made 30 saves at the other end.
