Getzlaf will miss Ducks opener vs. Coyotes

Center sidelined with lower-body injury @NHLdotcom

Center Ryan Getzlaf will not play for the Anaheim Ducks in their season opener against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday (10 p.m. ET; PRIME, FS-A, NHL.TV) because of a lower-body injury.

Coach Randy Carlyle said Getzlaf, Anaheim's captain, did not take part in the morning skate and would not dress.

Getzlaf, 32, skated on his own before practice Tuesday and was able to practice Wednesday.

He led the Ducks in scoring last season with 73 points (15 goals, 58 assists) and had 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 17 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
