Ryan Donato signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. It has an average annual value of $2 million.

The 27-year-old forward had 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) in 71 regular-season games for the Seattle Kraken last season and two assists in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

"Ryan adds depth and versatility to our team and will complement our forward group well," Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said. "He will be a great addition to our system."

Donato, who signed with Seattle as a free agent Sept. 13, 2021, scored the first regular-season goal in Kraken history in their first game, a 4-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 12, 2021.

Selected by the Boston Bruins in the second round (No. 26) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Donato has 135 points (65 goals, 70 assists) in 325 regular-season games for the Kraken, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild and Bruins and two points 19 playoff games.
