Rutherford nets two as Chiefs even series against Giants with 4-1 win @NHLdotcom

SPOKANE, Wash. - David Rutherford scored two goals and the Spokane Chiefs evened their Western Conference semifinal with a 4-1 victory over the Vancouver Giants on Sunday night.

Rutherford scored his first goal six minutes and 13 seconds into the opening period, and after Vancouver's Jonathon Blum evened the score with a power-play goal 4:20 into the third period, Rutherford struck again at 5:03.

Mitch Wahl also scored in the third for Spokane, which was 0-for-7 on the power play. Levko Koper added an empty-net goal with 20 seconds remaining in the game.

Chiefs goalie Dustin Tokarski finished with 19 saves and Giants goalie Tyson Sexsmith stopped 27 shots.

The Western Hockey League playoff series is now tied 1-1 as it heads to Vancouver for the next three games.
