Dynamo Moscow forward Klim Kostin, a top prospect for the 2017 NHL Draft, was one of 33 players named to Russia's roster for the 2016 Canada Russia Series.

The six-game series will start with two games against the Western Hockey League, Nov. 7 in Prince George, British Columbia, and Nov. 8 in Edmonton. Following that are two games against the Ontario Hockey League (North Bay, Ontario, Nov. 10; Hamilton, Ontario, Nov. 14) and two games against the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (Chicoutimi, Quebec, Nov. 15; Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Nov. 17).

The Canada Russia Series is another step in picking the teams that will play for Canada and Russia at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The WHL, OHL and QMJHL rosters previously had been released.

Kostin (6-foot-3, 199 pounds) had four goals and three assists in five games for Russia at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in August but has no points in eight games with Dynamo Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League. He received an A rating from NHL Central Scouting in its preliminary players to watch list.

"He's a first-round candidate, a big power forward who plays a physical game," NHL Director of European Scouting Goran Stubb said. "He is a strong skater with good speed, very good hockey sense and an excellent competitor."

Two players who received B ratings were picked for the team, defenseman Artyom Minulin of Swift Current in the WHL and left wing Nikita Popugaev of Moose Jaw in the WHL.

Minulin (6-2, 202) is fourth among WHL defensemen with 15 points in 16 games. Popugaev (6-5, 204) is second on Moose Jaw with nine goals and 19 points in 15 games.

Also on the roster is forward German Rubtsov, selected by the Philadelphia Flyers with the No. 22 pick of the 2016 NHL Draft.
