Russians to start Nabokov in Olympic opener @NHLdotcom
Evgeni Nabokov of the San Jose Sharks will get the first call in goal for Russia.

Russian GM Vladislav Tretiak said Nabokov will start in Tuesday night's Olympic opener against Latvia. Ilya Bryzgalov is slated to start in the Russians’ second game on Thursday night against Slovakia.

Tretiak also said two Washington Capitals -- Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin – will start with Detroit center Pavel Datsyuk on the top line against Latvia.

The Russians haven’t won gold at the Winter Games since 1992, when the Unified Team of former Soviet Union republics was victorious. That ended a run in which the Soviets won eight of 10 Olympics -- losing only to the United States in 1980 and 1960.
