SUDBURY, Ont. - Garret Ross scored twice and set up one more as the Saginaw Spirit downed the host Sudbury Wolves 6-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League play.
Sam Povorozniouk, Steven Strong, Vincent Trocheck and Jimmy Lodge also scored for the Spirit (3-4-2).
Michael Kantor scored the lone goal for the Wolves (5-4-0).
Jake Paterson stopped 33 shots for the win while Taylor Dupuis allowed four goals on 16 shots before getting pulled in the second period.
Joel Vienneau stopped 12-of-14 shots in relief.
Povorozniouk opened the scoring for the Spirit at 2:29 of the first period after being left alone to fire a shot from the left face-off circle.
Strong made it 2-0 at 3:49 with a shot from the point that beat Dupuis five-hole.
Kantor cut the deficit in half at 7:21 after Matthew Campagna fed him the puck in the slot, but Ross made it 3-1 at 11:44 after finishing a tic-tac-toe play from the side of the net.
Trocheck made it 4-1 at 7:43 of the second period with a shot that beat Dupuis and forced him out of Sudbury's net.
Saginaw went up 5-1 on the power play at 14:11 after Ross beat Vienneau blocker side.
Lodge added another goal on the power play at 7:42 of the third period with a shot from in front of the net that beat Vienneau glove side.
Saginaw went 2-for-3 on the power play while Sudbury went 0-for-5.
