SPOKANE, Wash. - Brad Ross scored two goals and added two assists as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Spokane Chiefs 8-6 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
Chase De Leo also scored two goals for Portland (21-11-3) while Ty Rattie, Joey Baker, Nicolas Petan and William Wrenn added singles.
Jarid Hauptman had two goals and an assist for Spokane (15-11-5) as Liam Stewart, Marek Kalus, Collin Valcourt and Anthony Bardaro had a goal apiece.
Mac Carruth made 28 saves for the win while Mac Engel allowed seven goals against on 25 shots before being replaced in the third period by Luke Lee-Knight.
Lee-Knight didn't face a single shot in the final 13 minutes of the game.
The Winterhawks went 1-for-3 on the power play as the Chiefs failed to score on their three chances with the man advantage.
