Hainsey's day with Cup no match for toddler's nap time

Ron Hainsey's day with the Stanley Cup was no match for Carter Wolfe's nap time.
The veteran defenseman, who helped the Pittsburgh Penguins win the championship last season, invited the 18-month-old tired toddler, who cried while sitting in the trophy, to a public ceremony at Bolton Ice Palace in Hainsey's hometown of Bolton, Connecticut, on Monday.

in Connecticut in 2016. He waited three hours to see the Cup this year and was about 90 minutes past his usual nap time when he, sister Avery, brother Brayden and parents Denny and Janet Wolfe had their picture taken with Hainsey.
"By the time we got to the ice for the picture, he was bordering on a meltdown," Denny Wolfe told NHL.com. "People seemed stunned that we [put the child in the Cup]. I figured I may never see my favorite team win the Cup again, so I did it again."
Hainsey learned to skate and started his youth hockey career at Bolton Ice Palace. The 36-year-old played 907 NHL games before finally reaching the Stanley Cup Playoffs as a member of the Penguins last season, then had eight points (two goals, six assists) in 25 playoff games.
He signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1.
