Defenseman Roman Polak and the Toronto Maple Leafs agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $1.1 million on Sunday.
Polak, 31, had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and a plus-10 rating in 75 games with the Maple Leafs last season. He was traded from the Maple Leafs to the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 22, 2016, and played in the 2016 Stanley Cup Final, but signed a one-year contract with Toronto on July 2, 2016.
Selected by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round (No. 180) of the 2004 NHL Draft, Polak played eight seasons with the Blues from 2006-14 and has 115 points (23 goals, 92 assists) and a minus-13 rating in 634 regular-season NHL games, and two assists in 51 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
