Sportsnet will televise "Rogers Hometown Hockey" on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET, prior to the game between the Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators. There will also be features during the intermission of that game, as well as during the 7:30 p.m. ET game between the Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers. The location this week is Nanaimo, British Columbia, and the show will celebrate the history of hockey in the city.

Among the features airing on the show:

* The Snuneymuxw First Nation will explain the art of totem pole carving. A locally-renowned carver will carve a 4-5 foot totem pole, as well as a replica that will remain with the City as a legacy piece of Rogers Hometown Hockey's visit to Nanaimo.

* A look back to the summer of 1996, when Wayne Gretzky almost signed with the Vancouver Canucks and how it could have changed the fortunes of the city.

* Bobby Ryan's father was imprisoned growing up, and the Ottawa Senators forward was raised by his mother, Melody. Ryan said she was always the most important person in his life, and when she was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016, he spent as much time with her as he could. He and his wife gave birth to their first child, and Ryan was happy his mother got to meet her granddaughter before she died.
