Gilbert action

Rod Gilbert's work on behalf of the New York Rangers' Garden of Dreams Foundation is continuing 10 months after the death of the man known as "Mr. Ranger."

The Foundation, a nonprofit organization that brings life-changing opportunities to young people in need, has announced the launch of the first-ever NFT digital commemorative patch on Fanaply, honoring Gilbert, the Rangers' all-time scoring leader, who died of cancer Aug. 19.
Net proceeds from the collectibles will benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation, which Gilbert supported for years, devoting much energy to its efforts.
With an online sale and auction that runs through 7 p.m. ET on July 1, which would have been Gilbert's 81st birthday, limited-edition collectibles with tiered prizes and experiences will be available on

Gilbert's work with Garden of Dreams, including serving on the foundation's advisory board, has made a significant impact on thousands of young people across the New York area.
Over the years, Mr. Ranger offered his time and generosity to provide support at Garden of Dreams events by visiting children's hospitals, playing ball hockey at community centers, meeting young people and their families at the Garden, and lending a hand at annual fundraising events.
"We were honored that the team wore the '7' patch on their jersey this season, reflecting that he was the heartbeat and the spirit of the New York Rangers," said Judy Gilbert, Rod's wife. "It means so much to the family to work with Garden of Dreams to honor Rod's legacy and benefit the foundation that meant so much to him.
"He used his platform to give back to the community and especially to champion Garden of Dreams. As his wife of 30-plus years, I watched as Rod invested an enormous amount of time and energy in raising funds and creating awareness as only Mr. Ranger could do."
The front of the patch hails Gilbert as the Rangers' all-time leading scorer; he is first with 406 goals and 1,021 points. The back quotes his often-spoken words: "It's not what you have, it's what you give."
