KELOWNA, B.C. - Jamie Benn and Colin Long both scored shootout goals as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 2-1 on Wednesday night in WHL action.

Evan Bloodoff gave Kelowna a 1-0 lead midway through the third period, but Spencer Machacek tied it 17 seconds later for Vancouver to force overtime.

Evander Kane and Michael Repik were both stopped in the shootout trying to deke Kelowna goalie Kris Westbloom, who made 23 saves. Tyson Sexsmith made 26 stops in Vancouver's goal.

The Rockets (5-6-1-0), last place in the B.C. Division, snapped a three-game losing streak and won for just the second time in six games at home.

Vancouver (9-2-1-2) has lost two straight, but remains first in B.C., two points ahead of the idle Chilliwack Bruins.
