Buffalo Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner had successful surgery on his right ankle and will miss the rest of the season, the Sabres announced Wednesday.

The Sabres acquired Lehner and forward David Legwand from the Ottawa Senators on June 26, 2015. Lehner sustained a high ankle sprain in Buffalo's season opener and missed the next 39 games before returning on Jan. 15.

Lehner finishes the season 5-9-5 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in 21 appearances.
