Boston Bruins forward Matt Beleskey was so excited to see the eclipse that he bartered with fans on social media to acquire some glasses. Bruins fan Peter Conley lent him a pair and ended up with a signed hat.
In the run-up to the event, team accounts practiced preparedness. The Dallas Stars also changed their avatar to the moon crossing the path of their logo a clever play on the sun's status as a star. Other NHL mascots got the best jokes out of their system.
