Ritter scores as Drummondville doubles Chicoutimi Sagueneens 4-2 @NHLdotcom

Recently traded players continue to make an impact in Quebec junior hockey.

Toni Ritter scored in his second game with Drummondville as the Voltigeurs doubled the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 4-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Saturday night.

Ritter was traded to Drummondville on Dec. 30. The Voltigeurs are Ritter's third team this season after starting the year with the Montreal Junior until Oct. 16 when he was moved to the Shawinigan Cataractes where he played for 20 games.

Moncton's Nicolas Deschamps also made waves when he scored twice in his debut with the Moncton Wildcats on Dec. 27 after being dealt from the Sagueneens on Dec. 23.

Gabriel Bourque is also expected to make an impact when he begins playing with Moncton. The 19-year-old was traded to the Wildcats from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on Dec. 19, but couldn't report to Moncton because he had been named to Canada's junior team three days prior.

Bourque will join his new team when the world junior championship is done.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Rouyn-Noranda 4 Gatineau 1; Montreal 2 Val-d'Or 1 (SO); Cape Breton 4 P.E.I. 1; Baie-Comeau 5 Quebec 3 and Lewiston 5 Shawinigan 4.

At Chicoutimi, Que., Gabriel Dumont and Sean Couturier both had a goal and two assists as Drummondville doubled the Sagueneens.

Captain Marc-Olivier Vachon also scored for the Voltigeurs (29-10-2).

Mathieu Leduc and Alexandre Lemieux replied for Chicoutimi (14-16-8).


Huskies 4 Olympiques 1

At Gatineau, Que., Sergey Ostapchuk had the eventual winner as Rouyn-Noranda thumped the Olympiques.

Jean-Sebastien Berube opened scoring for the Huskies (22-17-3), while Christophe Losier and Gabriel Levesque also added goals.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau was the lone scorer for Gatineau (21-17-3).


Junior 2 Foreurs 1 (SO)

At Verdun, Que., Trevor Parkes and David Rose scored in the shootout as Montreal edged Val-d'Or.

Hubert Genest scored in the third for the Junior (18-17-3).

Alexandre Quesnel had the only goal for the Foreurs (15-20-4).


Screaming Eagles 4 Rocket 1

At Charlottetown, P.E.I., Marc Bourgeois and Viktor Hertzberg both scored twice to lift Cape Breton over the Rocket.

Olivier Roy made 25 saves for the Screaming Eagles (24-12-5).

Cody Linteau provided all the offence for P.E.I. (20-17-4).


Drakkar 5 Remparts 3

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Marc-Olivier Mimar had a hat trick and added an assist as the Drakkar upset Quebec.

Mike Villeneuve and Simon Olsson both scored and had two assists for Baie-Comeau (12-23-3).

Danick Paquette, Frederick Roy and Mikael Tam all found the back of the net for the Remparts (25-10-6).


Maineiacs 5 Cataractes 4

At Lewiston, Maine, Michael Chaput scored twice and added two assists as the Maineiacs nipped Shawinigan.

Pierre-Olivier Morin also had a pair of goals for Lewiston (15-24-1), while Oskar Orrpars also tallied.

Olivier Ouellet and Antoine Houde-Caron both had short-handed goals for the Cataractes (18-17-5), while Charles-Olivier Roussel and Philippe Paradis also had markers.
