Riopel stops 34 as Wildcats beat Voltigeurs 5-3 in Game 1 of QMJHL semifinal @NHLdotcom

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. - Nicola Riopel made 34 saves as the Moncton Wildcats defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs 5-3 to win Game 1 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinal Friday.

Alex Saulnier, Scott Brannon, Simon Jodoin, Nicolas Deschamps and Gabriel Bourque each scored for the Wildcats.

Sean Couturier scored twice and Remi Blanchard added a single for the Voltigeurs.

Drummondville goaltender Jake Allen stopped 23 for the loss.

The series continues in Drummondville, Que., on Sunday.
