Rimouski Oceanic edges Shawinigan 4-3 after QMJHL suspends Tremblay @NHLdotcom

The Shawinigan Cataractes lost a player and a game on Sunday.

Alex Emond scored twice as the Rimouski Oceanic edged Shawinigan 4-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

Earlier in the day it was announced that Shawinigan's Tommy Tremblay would be suspended for four games after the league ruled that Tremblay had been the aggressor in a fight with Victoriaville's Guillaume Goulet during Friday's game against the Tigres.

Tremblay was assessed two game misconducts after the fight, with the league handing down an additional two games after reviewing videotape of the incident.

Also, the Shawinigan Cataractes were fined $500.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Cape Breton 8 Baie-Comeau 0; Saint John 6 Chicoutimi 0; Halifax 2 Drummondville 1; Val-d'Or 2 Lewiston 1; Quebec 3 Rouyn-Noranda 2 (SO); and Victoriaville 5 Montreal 1.

At Rimouski, Que., Ryan Kavanagh and Petr Straka also scored for the Oceanic (24-16-6).

Olivier Ouellet, Michael Bournival and Nicolas Larocque-Marcoux provided the offence for Shawinigan (21-19-6).


Screaming Eagles 8 Drakkar 0

At Sydney, N.S., Olivier Roy made 21 saves as Cape Breton blanked Baie-Comeau.

Viktor Hertzberg scored twice for the Screaming Eagles (27-16-5), while Pier-Antoine Dion, Taylor MacDougall, Luke Adam, Kalin Paul, Morgan Ellis and Jan Piskacek all added goals.

Simon Giroux stopped 45 shots for the Drakkar (13-29-3).


Sea Dogs 6 Sagueneens 0

At Saint John, N.B., Karel St-Laurent faced 25 shots as the Sea Dogs shut down Chicoutimi.

Michael Kirkpatrick and Simon Despres both had a goal and two assists for Saint John (38-7-1), while Mike Hoffman, Mike Thomas, Steven Anthony and Zack Phillips added markers.

Robin Gusse made 50 saves for the Sagueneens (16-22-8).


Mooseheads 2 Voltigeurs 1

At Halifax, Pascal Amyot had the eventual winner as the Mooseheads upset Drummondville.

Konrad Abeltshauser had the other goal for Halifax (10-33-3).

Sean Couturier replied for the Voltigeurs (33-13-2).


Foreurs 2 Maineiacs 1

At Val-d'Or, Que., Vincent Couture scored the winner in the second period as the Foreurs doubled Lewiston.

Marco Scandella opened scoring for Val-d'Or (17-24-5).

Samuel Carrier answered for the Maineiacs (16-28-2).


Remparts 3 Huskies 2 (SO)

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Dmitri Kugryshev and Martin Lefebvre scored in the shootout as Quebec toppled the Huskies.

Mikael Tam and Danick Paquette scored in regulation for the Remparts (28-13-6).

Jerome Gauthier-Leduc and Christophe Losier had markers for Rouyn-Noranda (27-18-3).


Tigres 5 Junior 1

At Verdun, Que., Joel Chouinard had a goal and an assist as Victoriaville man-handled Montreal.

Guillaume Goulet, Frederic Tanguay, Joel Champagne and Brandon Hynes also scored for the Tigres (33-13-2).

Eliezer Sherbatov was the lone scorer for the Junior (22-20-3).
