Rimouski forward Michael Frolik named QMJHL offensive player of week

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - Rimouski Oceanic forward Michael Frolik was named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League offensive player of the week Monday.

Frolik had seven points (2-5) in three games last week.

Brad Marchand of Halifax, Benjamin Breault of Baie-Comeau and Dean Ouellet of Cape Breton were also considered.

Moncton Wildcats goaltender Nicola Riopel was named defensive player of the week.

He had two wins and a shootout loss in three games last week. Riopel had a 1.93 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage over the stretch.

Thunderbirds F Jim O'Brien named WHL player of the week

CALGARY - Seattle Thunderbirds forward Jim O'Brien has been named WHL player of the week.

O'Brien collected eight points (2-6) in three games, all Seattle wins.

The 19-year-old was a first-round pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2007 NHL draft.

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds goalie Kyle Gajewski named OHL player of week

TORONTO - Goaltender Kyle Gajewski of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds was named Ontario Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He had a shutout and won both of his starts last week.

Gajewski posted a 0.50 goals-against average and a .983 save percentage over the stretch.

Manitoba Moose goalie Drew MacIntyre named AHL player of week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Manitoba Moose goaltender Drew MacIntyre was named American Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He stopped 98 of 101 shots over three road starts last week.

He posted a 0.98 goals-against average and a .970 save percentage over that period.
