Riley Brace scores two short-handed goals as Majors beat Wolves 5-3

SUDBURY, Ont. - Riley Brace scored two short-handed goals Friday as the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors defeated the Sudbury Wolves 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League play.

Junior Harris, Joseph Cramarossa and Justin Rasmussen had the other goals for the Majors (1-0-0), who lost in the Memorial Cup final to Saint John last season.

Michael Sgarbossa had two goals for the Wolves (0-1-0), while Brody Silk also scored.

Majors goaltender JP Anderson allowed three goals on 27 shots to pick up the win, while Sudbury's Brendan O'Neill surrendered five goals on 33 shots.

Silk gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead at 2:12 of the first before Harris, Rasmussen and Cramarossa scored before the period was out to give the Majors a 3-1 edge after one.

Sgarbossa made it 3-2 at 3:42 of the second before Brace scored two short-handed goals to put the Majors up 5-2.

Sgarbossa rounded out the scoring at 19:42 of the third on the power play.

Sudbury finished 1-for-7 with the man advantage, while the Majors wound up 0-for-3.
