Devils newcomer Marcus Johansson made his on-ice debut Friday at the Devils' practice facility, surrounded by new teammates and coaching staff. He also spoke with us about his offseason and joining his Devils teammates on the ice.

"You never see it coming, but I'm really happy to be here," Johansson said of the trade that sent him from Washington to New Jersey. "It's a great organization with a lot of great people in it. It's going to be a fun but challenging year."
Johansson spent the summer getting ready for his move to New Jersey and preparing his game to help the team continue moving in the right direction.
"I work hard," he said. "I like to play a lot with the puck. I'm just here to help the team win games. I'm not here to set any personal records. I'm here to help the team move forward."
The crafty left winger is settling in with his new team and looking forward to getting on the ice for a first full practice on Saturday. But most importantly, he's looking forward to being part of the upswing in the Devils organization. "I feel like I've come here at a good time."
