The Tennessean is reporting Pekka Rinne will start in goal for the Nashville Predators when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.
Rinne had missed practice Wednesday due to an illness.
The newspaper also is reporting veteran defenseman Hal Gill will return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch the last two games and four of the last five.
Coach Barry Trotz said he has not been happy with the team's defensive play recently and without confirming Gill would be in, he said a lineup change was in order. Gill is the Predators' only healthy extra player.
"We've gone from giving up virtually no chances a game to giving up a lot more the last few games and we have to get back to a normal balance," Trotz told the Tennessean. "But we can bring that back together. It's a little bit of a mindset and a little bit of diligence on our part to bring that to where we want it to be. We've gone from one extreme to the other extreme and we just want to find a nice balance here."
In 13 games this season, Gill has no points, eight penalty minutes and two shots on goal, while averaging 13:19 of ice time per game.
