According to a report by ESPN's John Buccigross, disgruntled forward Dany Heatley
will be traded to the San Jose Sharks
in a deal that will send Patrick Marleau
to the Los Angeles Kings
and Alexander Frolov
and Jarret Stoll
to the Senators.
Both Sharks GM Doug Wilson and Senators GM Bryan Murray denied the three-way trade when reached by ESPN.com.
Heatley has wanted out of Ottawa since the 2008-09 season ended. He invoked his no-trade clause to block a move to Edmonton earlier in the summer.
The Senators open training camp Saturday and Heatley said he would report if a trade is not made by then. Heatley scored 39 goals and 33 assists in 82 games last season and had signed a $45 million, six-year contract extension less than two years ago.
