The Washington Post reported Monday that Green, who has only appeared in 10 games this season due to various injuries, will undergo abdominal surgery and miss 4-6 weeks. Green was placed on the long-term injured list last week.
The 26-year-old missed 23 games earlier this season with a strained groin muscle. He returned to Washington's lineup earlier this month but re-injured the groin in just his third game back.
Green has suffered from shoulder, knee, hip and head injuries over the past two seasons and has only appeared in 12 of the Capitals' last 72 games, dating back to Feb. 8 of last season. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.
