Rensfeldt scores in OT, Sting edge Spirit to take 2-1 series lead @NHLdotcom

SARNIA, Ont. - Ludvig Rensfeldt's second goal of the game 15:51 into the first overtime period gave the Sarnia Sting a 6-5 victory over the Saginaw Spirit in Ontario Hockey League playoff action Monday night.

The Sting, who also won Game 2 in overtime, had leads of 2-0 and 3-1 before needing a goal mid-way through the third period to force the extra period.

"I thought we competed and this time there was no quit," said Sting coach Jacques Beaulieu. "We could have easily quit tonight after blowing those leads, but there was a lot of bite and fight left in our game."

The Sting lead the best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final 2-1. Game 4 is Wednesday in Saginaw, Mich.

Alex Galchenyuk and Reid Boucher each had a goal and an assist, while Connor Murphy and Craig Hottot added singles. Domenic Alberga and Charle Sarault each had two assists in the win.

Vincent Trocheck led the Spirit with a goal and an assist. Garret Ross, Brandon Saad, Steve Strong and Eric Locke also scored.

JP Anderson made 31 saves for the Sting, while Jake Paterson stopped 24 shots for the Spirit.

The Sting were 1 for 5 on the power play, with Saginaw going 1 for 3.
