REGINA - Regina Pats GM Brent Parker has been diagnosed with a form of soft tissue cancer in his upper back and shoulder.

"To this point I have undergone one procedure and will undergo further tests and procedures in the coming days and weeks that will determine the extent of what lies ahead," Parker said in a statement Monday.

Parker, 42, has been the general manager of the Pats for 13 seasons. The Pats finished the regular season second in the Eastern Conference with a 44-22-4-2 record. They were eliminated in the first round of the WHL playoffs by the Swift Current Broncos.
