Regina beats the Winter Hawks 5-3 thanks to strong second period @NHLdotcom

REGINA - The Regina Pats scored four unanswered goals in the second period to beat the Portland Winter Hawks 5-3 in Western Hockey League action Friday night.

The Winter Hawks (2-11-0-0) held a 3-1 lead early in the second, but Brett Leffler's power-play marker opened the flood gates for Regina (7-5-1-2). Matt Strueby, Jordan Eberle and Jordan Weal all found the net before the end of the period to put the Pats up for good.

Garrett Mitchell scored Regina's other goal, while Taylor Peters, Radim Valchar and Travis Ehrhardt replied for Portland.

Jeff Bosch made 30 saves for the Pats. Winter Hawks netminder Keith Hamilton stopped 37 shots.
