Ref helps Barbashev back to bench

OTT@STL: Barbashev loses blade, gets help to bench

Ivan Barbashev gets a little help back to the bench by referee Brian Pochmara after he wipes out and loses his skate blade

Brian Pochmara couldn't bear to see Ivan Barbashev struggle, so the NHL referee offered the St. Louis Blues forward some help.

Pochmara, the referee in the Blues vs. Ottawa Senators game Saturday, gave Barbashev a much-needed push to the bench after he lost his skate blade during the first period.

Barbashev went into the end boards hard after trying to drive to the net, but lost his skate blade upon impact. Barbashev limped along helplessly, trying to the bench, but fortunately Pochmara saw the incident and steered him over for repairs.

The officials were really looking out for Barbashev. Linesman Ryan Galloway even delivered his errant blade to the bench at the next stoppage in play. We're sure he'll return the favor next time an official is in peril.
