GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - The Phoenix Coyotes are on the brink of elimination and could be on the verge of their final game in the desert.
They won't get any sympathy from Detroit. After needing seven grueling games to finish off the Coyotes last season, the Red Wings want to get this series over as quickly as possible.
Detroit has a commanding 3-0 lead in the first-round playoff series after scoring goals early in each period of a 4-2 win Monday night in Arizona. The Red Wings can complete the sweep in Game 4 Wednesday night.
Still facing a murky ownership situation, the Coyotes would like to at least win one game at home, in case it's their last in the Valley of the Sun.
