Red Wings' Tomas Kopecky has surgery on left knee @NHLdotcom

DETROIT (AP) -Red Wings forward Tomas Kopecky had surgery on his left knee and is expected to be able to play at the start of next season.

The team said Tuesday his torn ligament was successfully repaired and that he will need four to six months to recover.

Kopecky was hurt April 3 against Columbus. He had five goals and seven assists for Detroit.
