Detroit and San Jose had to do without a morning skate Tuesday due to a power problem at HP Pavilion, but the Sharks say the problem has been fixed and the game with the Red Wings will start as scheduled at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment released the following statement regarding the power outage:
"At approximately 8:45 a.m. this morning, HP Pavilion at San Jose experienced a power outage due to a problem with an on-site electrical switchgear. With the assistance of PG&E, the problem has been repaired. We do not expect the outage to have any impact on the Sharks/Red Wings game at 7:30 p.m. this evening."
Not many Sharks players recalled a morning skate being canceled by a power problem, but they didn't feel not skating would have any effects because the problem affected both teams.
"I'm sure something has happened, I've been in the league a while now," defenseman Dan Boyle
told the Sharks' website. "Nothing like this. Because we skated pretty good yesterday, it's not the end of the world. If we didn't skate yesterday then it would have been a little harder. We're 20 games in here, this shouldn't be a big deal."
