Hopefully, Detroit Red Wings fans in attendance brought some tissues with them to the game Monday because the team marked the last home opener at Joe Louis Arena with a couple of stirring videos.

The first was a look back at monumental moments during the 36 seasons the Red Wings have called The Joe their home. The video, narrated by actor and longtime Red Wings fan Jeff Daniels, was shown before the game started.

During the first TV timeout, a Gordie Howe tribute played and the crowd was invited to participate with red "9" cards. Howe died June 10 at the age of 88.

The Red Wings are playing their 37th season at Joe Louis Arena, which opened in 1979, before moving into Little Caesars Arena next season.
