Red Wings defenseman Green out 2-3 weeks @NHLdotcom

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green will be out 2-3 weeks because of an upper-body injury, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said Monday.

Green was injured in the first period Friday against the Calgary Flames. He sat out the game Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

In seven games this season Green, 30, has one assist and is averaging 19:37 of ice time per game.

Defenseman Kyle Quincey also was injured against the Flames; Holland said he is in the concussion protocol and will miss at least the next three games, Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes, and a home-and-home set Friday and Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.

Holland also said center Brad Richards is in New York seeing a specialist about pain in his lower back, but Holland said he doesn't think Richards' issue is serious. He has missed the past two games.
