Red-hot Remparts extend streak to eight games with win over Drakkar @NHLdotcom

The Quebec Remparts are firing on all cylinders, and their opponents have yet to find an answer.

Four different Remparts scored goals as Quebec recorded its eighth straight win with a decisive 4-1 victory over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar Saturday night in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Kelsey Tessier scored the winning goal 1:30 into the third period and the Remparts (9-1-0-0) never trailed, playing solid defensive hockey and limiting Baie-Comeau to 25 shots.

The Drakkar could not find any offence until Antoine Letourneau ended Jonathan Roy's shutout bid on a third period power play with seven minutes remaining. Quebec's only loss of the season came on Sept. 14, when the Victoriaville Tigres shut them out 4-0.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Rimouski 7, Cape Breton 4; P.E.I. 4, Chicoutimi 2; Saint John 4, Montreal 0; Shawinigan 9, Val-d'Or 4; and Victoriaville 2, Acadie-Bathurst 1 (OT).

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Jean-Simon Allard opened the scoring at 9:30 of the second period. Dmitri Kugryshev and Benjamin Breault scored the other goals for Quebec.

Roy stopped 24 shots for the Remparts, while Marco Cousineau made 30 saves for the Drakkar (2-5-2-1).


Oceanic 7, Screaming Eagles 4

At Rimouski, Que., Felix Lefrancois scored the winner and added an assist as the Oceanic survived a late-game comeback attempt to hand Cape Breton their second loss of the season.

Jordan Caron, Philippe Cornet, Luca Cunti, Nicholas Samoluk, Emmanuel Boudreau and Keven Veilleux each scored for Rimouski (6-3-0-0).

Michael Stinziani scored two and Nicolas Chouinard and Artem Demkov added goals for the Screaming Eagles (10-2-0-0).


Rocket 4, Sagueneens 2

At Chicoutimi, Que., The Sagueneens lost their fifth game in a row, this time falling to P.E.I.

Maxime Provencher scored the winner on the power play for the Rocket (4-5-0-1). Jeremiah Coon-Come, Mathieu Tousignant and Simon Olsson also scored.

Joel Champagne replied with two goals for Chicoutimi (3-7-0-1).


Sea Dogs 4, Junior 0

At Saint John, N.B., Robert Mayer needed only 20 saves to record the shutout as the Sea Dogs downed Montreal.

David Stich scored two, while Michael Kirkpatrick and Steven Anthony added goals for Saint John (6-6-0-0).

Jake Allen stopped 33 shots in a losing effort for the Junior (6-5-0-0).


Cataractes 9, Foreurs 4

At Val-d'Or, Que., Matthew Pistilli had a hat trick, including the winning goal, as Shawinigan shelled the Foreurs.

Gabriel Lemieux and Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll both notched a pair, while Maxime Legault and Nicholas Petersen rounded out the scoring for the Cataractes (8-4-0-0).

Alex Noel, Jason Legault, Derek Famulare and Alexandre Monahan replied for Val-d'Or (0-9-1-0).


Tigres 2, Titan 1 (OT)

At Bathurst, N.B., Maxime Tanguay potted the overtime winner on the power play to lift Victoriaville over the Titan.

Travis McIsaac tied the game in the third period for the Tigres (7-7-0-0).

Remi Blanchard had the only goal for Acadie-Bathurst (5-4-3-0).
