Rebels Mappin and Smith get three points each in 6-2 win over Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - Cass Mappin had two goals and an assist, and Carter Smith added a goal and two assists to lead the Red Deer Rebels over the Portland Winter Hawks 6-2 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.

Mappin scored both goals on the power play. Red Deer (7-11-0-5) also got goals from Landon Ferraro, Josh Cowen and Brennen Wray. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two assists.

Portland (4-14-0-0) got goals from Colin Redden and Radim Valchar. Brad Ross assisted on both goals.

Rebels goalie Darcy Kuemper made 30 saves for the win, while Keith Hamilton stopped 18 shots.
