Read back in Flyers lineup against Sabres

by Joe Yerdon

BUFFALO -- The Philadelphia Flyers will get Matt Read back in the lineup when they face the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center on Tuesday (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, TSN). Read missed the past six games after sustaining a concussion against the Calgary Flames on Dec. 31. He has 10 goals and 19 points this season.

"He's an every-situation player for us," Flyers coach Craig Berube said. "Penalty kill, power play, 5-on-5. He's fast, has the ability to put the puck in the net, so he adds speed. Like I said, he's an all-around kind of player."

Berube said there wouldn't be any limitations and would use Read in all situations.

The Flyers arrived to Buffalo having lost their past two games by a combined score of 10-4.

"We were a little lackadaisical the last two games," Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds said. "We missed quite a few defensive assignments and we gave up quite a few goals because of the missing of our assignments. I think we've got to refocus and re-calibrate a bit and just be ready to go."

Steve Mason was the first goalie off at morning skate and will start.

The Sabres enter the game having gone 6-0-2 in their past eight home games. Their 4-1 loss to the Flyers Nov. 21 came in Philadelphia.

"Philly has always been one of those perennial type of teams that you know what you're going to get from them on a game-to-game basis," Sabres interim coach Ted Nolan said. "We know it's going to be a tough game."

Jhonas Enroth was first off at the Sabres' optional morning skate and will get the start. Goal support has been an issue in games for Enroth. In 14 of his appearances (13 starts), the Sabres have scored 18 goals.

"Since I've been here it's been nothing but positive," Nolan said. "We have a lot of trust in both goaltenders. Unfortunately for Jhonas we just haven't scored too much for him. He's played some great games so we're just going to let him do his thing and hopefully we'll get a couple for him."
