Rask, Smith combine on Bruins' shutout of Capitals @NHLdotcom

Zdeno Chara's power-play goal broke a scoreless tie at 14:17 of the third period in the Boston Bruins' 2-0 win against the Washington Capitals at TD Garden on Wednesday.

Boston goalies Tuukka Rask (14 saves) and Jeremy Smith (12 saves) combined for the shutout.

Simon Gagne, who is with the Bruins on a tryout, scored an empty-net goal at 19:56.

Capitals goalie Braden Holtby stopped all 21 shots he faced; Pheonix Copley played the third period and made eight saves.
