Rask, Gayle lead Calgary Hitmen to 4-2 win over Kootenay Ice in home opener @NHLdotcom

CALGARY - Victor Rask and Danny Gayle had a goal and an assist each to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-2 win over the Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League action Sunday.

Brooks Macek scored the game-winning goal in the third period for the Hitmen (1-2-0), who bounced back from a 6-5 loss in Lethbridge on Friday night.

Kenton Miller added an empty-net goal for the Hitmen, who outshot the Ice 9-1 in the final period.

Sam Reinhart had a goal and an assist while Brendan Hurley scored his first goal of the season for Kootenay (3-1-1), which led 1-0 after the first and 2-1 after the second

Calgary netminder Brandon Glover stopped 16-of-18 shots to help the Hitmen win their home opener in front of 7,866 fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Kootenay goalie Nathan Lieuwen, who backstopped Kootenay to a 5-1 win over Calgary on Sept. 24, made 23 saves.
