Rangers to award Boogaard scholarship to youth hockey camp @NHL
The New York Rangers have continued to honor the legacy of Derek Boogaard with Wednesday's announcement of two scholarships to be awarded annually to the Rangers Summer Youth Hockey Camp for children from the Defending the Blue Line program.

The Derek Boogaard Youth Hockey Scholarship will be awarded annually to honor Boogaard's memory and continue the Rangers' mission to help grow the game of hockey by making it accessible to all. This year's scholarship winners are a pair of 8-year-old boys from New York City, each of whom has a family member currently serving in the military.

Boogaard, who died in May, was a major supporter of Defending the Blue Line, a non-profit organization created by soldiers  with the goal of making hockey accessible to children of U.S. military members. Boogaard donated four seats at every  Rangers home game to military fmailies to attend as part of a group he dubbed "Boogaard's Boogaardians."

Current Rangers Derek Stepan and Michael Sauer will be among the instructors at this year's camp, which will be held July 18-22 at the Rangers' practice facility, the Madison Square Garden Training Center in Tarrytown, N.Y.
