After representing his country in the World Championships in May, Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich has spent the rest of the summer traveling and taking in some matches at the 2018 World Cup, which was hosted in his home of Russia.
NYRangers.com caught up with No. 89 to talk about his offseason and his excitement for getting back to New York to start the new season with the Rangers

NYR: How has the summer been?
PB: "Good. After the World Championships I went home, then went to Turkey for 12 days, then Rome for four days. I went to a couple games in the [World Cup]."
NYR: How was the World Cup and getting to see some games at home?
PB: "It was very fun. It was a really good championship in a good stadium. The fans were good and there was a good atmosphere."
NYR: What were your expectations for Russia?
PB: "Before the championship, I just hoped they'd take the group stage."
NYR: Do you use the summer to spend time with family?
PBL "Yeah. The first month I didn't do much, just spent time with family and chilled at home."
NYR: How were your trips? Had you ever been to either Turkey or Italy?
PB: "Turkey was great weather. Just chilled by the pool and relaxed. There was good sun. Rome was pretty nice, too. I liked the city. I want to go there again for longer. It's good for a walk and there was good food. The Italian food was really good."

NYR: When you had some down time, did you watch any TV shows or anything?
PB: "I watched Power. I liked it. I'm in season 5 right now and the finale is coming up."
NYR: With a few months passed since last season, what's your mindset like as we head into a new year?
PB: "The season ended too early for us. We had too much time [in the summer]. I hope everyone had a great time and is ready for next season. I've been working out in my hometown. Doing more gym, not a lot of ice yet."
NYR: What's your excitement about coming back to New York?
PB: "I'm so excited to see the fans. I'll be ready to play."
