Rangers' Stepan out vs. Predators because of illness

by Staff

New York Rangers center Derek Stepan will not play Saturday against the Nashville Predators because of an undisclosed illness, according to the Rangers' verified Twitter account.

Stepan missed the beginning of this season recovering from a leg injury; he has 34 points in 36 games since returning.

The Rangers already are without goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who will miss three to five weeks because of a vascular injury sustained against the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 31 when he was hit in the throat with a shot.

J.T. Miller will replace Stepan in the Rangers lineup.
