Emerging from the Pack

Filip Chytil registered three points (one goal, two assists) and posted a plus-two rating in three games during the week. Chytil recorded two points (one goal, one assist), including the game-winning goal in overtime, on Jan. 19 vs. Utica, and he also notched an assist on the game-winning goal in overtime on Jan. 21 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Rangers' first round pick (21st overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has tallied 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) and has posted a plus-four rating in 21 games with the Wolf Pack this season. Chytil leads Hartford in plus/minus rating and ranks second on Hartford in points per game (0.76) in 2017-18. He also ranks seventh among AHL rookies in points per game this season.

Alexandar Georgiev stopped all 43 shots he faced in regulation and overtime to earn his first career AHL shutout and help the Wolf Pack register a 1-0 win in overtime on Jan. 21 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Georgiev's 43 saves were also tied for a single-game season-high.

Vince Pedrie recorded the game-winning goal in overtime in Hartford's 1-0 win on Jan. 21 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He has tallied 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 25 games with Hartford this season, and he ranks 10th among AHL rookie defensemen (min. 25 games played) in points per game in 2017-18 (0.40).

Neal Pionk tallied an assist/point in two of three games during the week (two assists), and he recorded nine shots on goal in the three contests. He has registered five assists/points in his last six games, seven points (one goal, six assists) in his last 10 games, and eight points (one goal, seven assists) in his last 13 contests. Pionk ranks second among Wolf Pack defensemen in assists (13) and points (14) this season.

Boo Nieves recorded an assist on Jan. 19 vs. Utica. Nieves, who has skated in 28 games with the Rangers this season, has registered four points (two goals, two assists) in nine AHL games with Hartford in 2017-18.

Ryan Sproul tallied two goals on Jan. 19 vs. Utica. He has recorded 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 36 AHL games this season, including 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 31 contests with the Wolf Pack.

Cole Schneider registered an assist/point in two of three games during the week (two assists). He has notched 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) in 43 games with Hartford this season, and he leads the Wolf Pack in assists and points in 2017-18.

Sergey Zborovskiy was reassigned to Hartford from Greenville (ECHL) on Jan. 20, and he made his AHL debut on Jan. 21 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Chris Nell earned a win in both of his appearances with the Kansas City Mavericks (ECHL) during the week. Nell has posted a 3-0-0 record, along with a 1.67 GAA and a .939 SV% (77 saves on 82 shots) in three appearances with Kansas City this season.

Tarmo Reunanenmade his debut with his new team, Lukko, in Liiga on Jan. 18. The Rangers' fourth round pick (98th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft registered four shots on goal and logged 19:25 of ice time against Ilves. Reunanen has tallied three assists in 26 games in Liiga this season.

Ty Ronning registered two goals and led all skaters with 10 shots on goal on Jan. 19 vs. Victoria. The Rangers' seventh round pick (201st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has recorded 13 points (11 goals, two assists) in the last 10 contests. Ronning has registered 59 points (42 goals, 17 assists) and a plus-12 rating in 47 games this season; he has established a WHL career-high in goals and has tied his WHL career-high in points. He leads the WHL in shots on goal (242) and ranks second in the league in goals this season. Ronning leads Vancouver in goals, points, and shots on goal, and is tied for the team lead in plus/minus rating in 2017-18.

Igor Shesterkin posted a 2-0-0 record, along with a 1.00 GAA, a .941 SV% (32 saves on 34 shots), and 1 SO in two appearances during the week. The Rangers' fourth round pick (118th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft stopped all 19 shots he faced to earn his sixth shutout of the season (and his second shutout in his last three appearances) on Jan. 20 against Amur. Shesterkin has appeared in 26 KHL games this season, posting a 23-2-1 record, along with a 1.72 GAA, a .932 SV%, and 6 SO, and he is tied for fifth in the league in shutouts in 2017-18. Since the start of last season, Shesterkin has posted a 54-6-2 record, along with a 1.67 GAA, a .935 SV%, and 14 SO in 65 KHL appearances.

Tyler Wall stopped 21 of 23 shots he faced and earned a win on Jan. 19 at the University of Vermont. The Rangers' sixth round pick (174th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has posted a 2-0-0 record, along with a 0.98 GAA, a .957 SV% (45 saves on 47 shots), and 1 SO in his last two appearances. Wall has appeared in 45 career collegiate games with UMass-Lowell, and he has posted a 28-16-1 record, along with a 2.41 GAA, a .907 SV%, and 3 SO.
