Emerging from the Pack

Boo Nieves registered a goal/point in each of the Wolf Pack's two games during the past week, tallying three points (two goals, one assist) over the span. The Rangers' second round pick (59th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft recorded the game-winning goal on Oct. 13 against Toronto.

Chris Nell posted a 2-0-0 record, along with a 2.50 GAA and a .921 SV% (58 saves on 63 shots) in two appearances during the week. Nell, who was signed by the Rangers as an undrafted free agent on Mar. 23, 2017, made a season-high 33 saves and earned a win on Oct. 14 at Springfield. In three AHL appearances in 2017-18, Nell has registered a 3-0-0 record, along with a 1.95 GAA and a .935 SV%. He is tied for the AHL lead in wins, ranks ninth in the league in GAA, and ranks 10th in the league in SV% thus far this season.

Vinni Lettieri registered two points (one goal, one assist), including his first career AHL goal/assist/point, led all skaters with six shots on goal, and posted a plus-three rating on Oct. 14 at Springfield. Lettieri, who was signed by the Rangers as an undrafted free agent on Mar. 27, 2017, ranks second on Hartford in shots on goal (15) and is tied for second in plus/minus rating (plus-two) thus far this season.

Adam Tambellini extended his goal/point streak to three games by registering the first goal of the game on Oct. 13 vs. Toronto. The Rangers' third round pick (65th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft has recorded three goals in four games thus far this season, and he leads Hartford in goals and shots on goal (16) in 2017-18.

Cole Schneider tallied a point in both of Hartford's games during the week, recording two points (one goal, one assist) and a plus-three rating over the two contests. He has registered a point in three of four games with the Wolf Pack thus far this season (two goals, one assist). Schneider, who signed with the Rangers as a free agent on July 1, 2017, tied for sixth in the AHL in points last season (63).

Morgan Barron, C, Cornell University (NCAA) - Barron tallied two assists and posted a plus-two rating while skating in his first exhibition game with Cornell on Oct. 14 against the University of Guelph. The Rangers' sixth round pick (174th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft is entering his freshman season with Cornell, and the team's regular season schedule begins on Oct. 27.

Adam Chapie, RW, Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) - Chapie posted two multi-point games during the past week, registering five points (one goal, four assists) in the two contests. Chapie recorded three assists on Oct. 14 vs. Wheeling. He is tied for the ECHL lead in assists (four) and is tied for third in the league in points (five) thus far this season.

Sean Day, D, Windsor Spitfires (OHL) - Day recorded two assists, posted a plus-three rating, and registered 10 shots on goal in three games during the week. The Rangers' third round pick (81st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft notched an assist and tied for the game-high with six shots on goal on Oct. 15 vs. Sarnia. Day is tied for second on Windsor - and is tied for first among team defensemen - in plus/minus rating this season (plus-two), and he has registered three assists/points in six games with the Spitfires thus far in 2017-18. Day is also tied for first among team defensemen with 15 shots on goal this season.

Tim Gettinger, LW, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) - Gettinger registered a goal and recorded three shots on goal on Oct. 15 vs. Ottawa. The Rangers' fifth round pick (141st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has recorded 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 10 games with Sault Ste. Marie thus far in 2017-18. Gettinger is tied for third in the OHL in shots on goal (45) thus far this season. He leads Sault Ste. Marie in shots on goal and power play goals (three), ranks second on the team in goals (five), and ranks third in assists (six) and points (11) this season.

Adam Huska, G, University of Connecticut (NCAA) - Huska stopped 17 of 18 shots he faced in a relief appearance and earned a win on Oct. 13 at American International. The Rangers' seventh round pick (184th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft has posted a 2-2-0 record, along with a 2.43 GAA and a .920 SV% (103 saves on 112 shots) in four appearances with UConn this season. Huska ranks 10th in the NCAA (min. four appearances) in SV% this season, and he also ranks 14th in the NCAA in saves thus far in 2017-18.

Ty Ronning, RW, Vancouver Giants (WHL) - Ronning notched an assist, recorded a team-high five shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating on Oct. 14 at Moose Jaw. The Rangers' seventh round pick (201st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has registered seven points (four goals, three assists) in eight games with Vancouver in 2017-18, and he has recorded at least four shots on goal in all eight contests. He leads the Giants in shots on goal (42) and game-winning goals (two), ranks second in goals (four), and is tied for second in points (seven) and plus/minus rating (plus-four) thus far this season. Ronning is also tied for sixth in the WHL in shots on goal in 2017-18.

Patrik Virta, C, TPS (Liiga) - Virta registered a goal, recorded two shots on goal, and won 11 of 19 faceoffs (57.9%) in 19:09 of ice time on Oct. 14 against HIFK. The Rangers' seventh round pick (207th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in the last three games and has registered nine points (two goals, seven assists) and a plus-two rating in 13 games with TPS this season. Virta is tied for the team lead in assists, ranks fourth on TPS in shots on goal (44), and is tied for fifth in points in 2017-18.
