Rangers defenseman McDonagh skates on own

by Staff

New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh, who has missed the past eight games with a separated shoulder, skated on his own for the first time on Tuesday, according to the team.

Rangers coach Alain Vigneault provided no timetable to his return to the lineup. McDonagh sustained his injury on Nov. 1 when he was checked into the boards by Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane in the first period of a 1-0 shootout loss. The Rangers captain is expected to be out 3-to-4 weeks.

Vigneault confirmed after practice on Tuesday that goalie Cam Talbot would start against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. It will be his first appearance in six games.
