Rangers' Blair Betts to miss 2-to-3 weeks after foot surgery in New York @NHLdotcom

NEW YORK (AP) -Rangers forward Blair Betts had foot surgery Friday and will be out two to three weeks.

The operation in New York took place hours before the Rangers played the Flyers in Philadelphia.

Betts, a checking forward, has two goals and five assists this season while playing on the fourth line. He is one of seven players to have suited up for each of the Rangers' first 74 games.

His absence could've opened a spot for Petr Prucha, who has missed the previous 15 games - six because of a shoulder injury Feb. 10 at Washington, but Rangers coach Tom Renney decided to go another way. Ryan Hollweg reclaimed his spot on the checking line alongside Fredrik Sjostrom and Colton Orr.

Hollweg was benched the previous eight games after last month's acquisition of Sjostrom from Phoenix at the trade deadline created a logjam at forward.
